How To Make The Baked Brownie (And A Little Story Behind It)

It's such a good quarantine day. It has been more than 2 weeks of quarantine due to Covid-19. Many people (especially with middle-down economy status) having anxiety during this time. Some of us lost our jobs. Me to, my family too. It's pathetic, but we don't despair.

Other than jobs, we lost our favorite foods. It's hard to get them anymore. So my husband and I decided to make the foods we wanted by our own. Yesterday, we made the baked brownie!

For the chef amateur like me, the very first thing I did was not preparing the ingredients -- I prepared the recipe. Even, before preparing the recipe, I really did deep research. The reason was quite clear and unequivocal: I had limited stuff and limited access to buy the ingredients (given the physical distancing order due to Covid-19, again).

I had lots of recipes, baked and steamed brownies, with and without brown sugar (which was hard to find at the nearest convenience store), different amount of eggs, etc. I needed to adjust them with our availability at our kitchen. At last, I chose Devina Hermawan's brownie recipe from her YouTube Channel, entitled "Panggang Dua kali! Rahasia Resep Brownies Ala Starbucks", meaning "Bake Twice! The Secret of Brownie Recipe À la Starbucks". And here are the recipe (and the adjustment I did)

Ingredients:

3 eggs

200 gr Sugar (I added 250 gr sugar)

50 gr brown sugar (I didn't have it, that's why I add 250 gr sugar instead of combining with brown sugar)

140 gr butter (I didn't know whether it should have been salted or unsalted butter, but I just had salted butter)

45 gr chocolate powder

110 gr dark chocolate bar (I didn't put it cz I didn't have it)

65 gr flour

7 gr baking powder (I just put 6 gr)

1 tsp espresso powder

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp salt

Methods:

1. Mix eggs and sugar about 7-10 mins until fluffy.

2. Melt the butter, set aside.

3. Melt the dark chocolate bar, ¼ chocolate powder, and espresso powder, set aside. (I skipped it because I did not have dark chocolate bar.)

4. Pour the melted butter and melted chocolate mix to the egg dough.

5. Add flour, all chocolate powder, baking powder, vanilla extract, and salt all together. Filter them with flour sieve if you have. Stir them.

6. Pour all the dough to the cake mold.

7. Add topping if you like. (I added almonds, you may add choco chips, cashew nut, etc.)

8. Bake on the oven with temperature 180 degree for 20 mins.

9. Take the brownies, press gently and smooth it out. Rest for 10 mins.

10. Bake again for 20 mins at the same temperature.

11. Done! Serve it beautifully😁

On making the brownies, my husband helped me a lot, especially on mixing the dough. To be honest, I missed some steps, but we could handle the rests. The thing is, this brownie tasted sooo good! I wasn't expecting that the brownies would be successful and tasty like I used to buy at bakery shop. We were really satisfied. I wish I will have other opportunities to try the other recipes. As one of my goals: having cake and bakery shop. (Please say "Aamiin"😁)
